Amy Skieresz
SCHOOL: Agoura
SPORT: Cross-country
YEAR: Junior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Skieresz missed three weeks of training in October because of an ear infection and flu but rebounded to win four major titles in November, capped by her victory in the Division I race of the state championships Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno. Her other victories during the month were in the Ventura County (Nov. 1), Marmonte League (Nov. 4) and Southern Section (Nov. 20) championships.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Skieresz won her first state title with a time of 17 minutes 49 seconds over the 5,000-meter course at Woodward Park after finishing second to Milena Glusac of Fallbrook as a sophomore. Although her time was 22 seconds slower than her personal best at Woodward Park, she was pleased with her first state title. “It’s nice,” Skieresz said. “I felt pretty comfortable during the race. I felt like I could have gone faster, but sometimes it’s hard to tell. I was definitely tired when I crossed the finish line.”
