PREP ROUNDUP : Seaton’s 30 Points Lead Servite Past Lakewood

Brian Severin made a driving layup with about 35 seconds left to give Servite a 62-60 victory over Lakewood in the second round of the Sunbird boys’ basketball tournament Wednesday at Western High School.

After Severin’s basket, Lakewood missed two shots in the final seven seconds. Mark Seaton got the rebound that clinched the victory for Servite (2-0). Seaton finished with a game-high 30 points.

He also had 20 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive end.

In another Sunbird tournament game:

Loara 70, Sunny Hills 53--Scott Davis scored 35 points, including four three-pointers, for Loara (1-1). Rob Harris had 10 points. Loara is (1-1).

In the Daily Pilot tournament:

Troy 72, Estancia 46--Greg Abbott scored 26 points and Rick Parmenter added 13 for Troy (1-1).

Corona del Mar 67, Calvary Chapel 53--Ramin Bastini led the way with 21 points and teammate Jess Schroeder added 13 for Corona del Mar (1-0). Isaac Lessau scored 14 for Calvary Chapel (0-2).

In boys’ nonleague basketball:

Trabuco Hills 66, Dana Hills 52--Ryan Karnoff had 19 points, 15 coming on three-pointers for Trabuco Hills (1-0).

Laguna Hills 67, Foothill 39-- Jesse McDonald had 16 points and 7 rebounds to lead the Hawks (1-0). Ali Mansour had 11 points.

Sonora 72, La Mirada 40--Chad Fister scored 23 points including making three three-pointers and Craig Clark had 19 points and 14 rebounds for Sonora.

In the Etiwanda girls’ basketball tournament:

Brea-Olinda 83, Claremont 12--Nicole Erickson had 16 points and Kiyoko Miller added 15 for Brea-Olinda (1-0) in the Wildcats’ first game under Coach John Hattrup.

In the Century girls’ tournament:

Santa Ana Valley 43, Sunny Hills 39--Velina Gibson had 18 and Ana Lopez added 14 for Santa Ana Valley.

Corona del Mar 55, Santa Ana 30--Lindsay Warmington, a freshman, scored 16 points and Rosalie Kane added 15 for Corona del Mar (1-0).

Century 47, Sonora 33--Nina Alexander scored 20 points for Century, which led, 16-0, after a quarter and, 30-7, at the half.

Troy 53, Capistrano Valley Christian 38--Stephanie Bloomingdale had 10 of her 18 in the third quarter and and Jennie Gadd had 21 for Troy (1-0).

In the Irvine tournament:

Estancia 88, Anaheim 9--Jenny Jennings, a freshman for Estancia, scored 17 points and had eight steals. Jennings made five three-pointers. Jessica Waltz was the Eagles’ leading scorer with 19 points, 12 assists and 10 steals. Estancia is 1-0.

Saddleback 44, Foothill 41--Nicole Wiora had 15 points and Aidee Pacheco added 11 points and 15 rebounds for Saddleback (1-0).

In nonleague girls’ basketball:

Los Alamitos 40, Laguna Beach 17--Myesha Williams scored 12 points, all in the first quarter for visiting Los Alamitos (1-0).

In nonleague boys’ soccer:

Los Alamitos 2, Bellflower St. John Bosco 0--Brian Noggle and Marco Materazzi scored the Griffins’ goals in the first half. Matt Freeland had two assists also for Los Alamitos (1-0).

Buena Park 4, Bolsa Grande 2--Jose Barrera, Alex Chavez, Tim Jones and Loyes Byron each had one goal and Jamal Allen added eight saves for Buena Park (1-0).
