Foot Injury Makes CSUN’s Chevalier Questionable

The Cal State Northridge men’s basketball team left for Springfield, Mo., this morning not knowing whether point guard Andre Chevalier will play in the Southwest Missouri State tournament that begins Friday.
Chevalier, the Matadors’ senior captain, injured his left foot Saturday night with two minutes to play in a lopsided loss to Gonzaga in the consolation game of the Stanford tournament.
After playing in 85 consecutive games during his Northridge career, Chevalier sat out Tuesday’s 87-74 loss at Cal State Long Beach.
The former Cleveland High standout did not practice Wednesday, instead shooting by himself.
“The foot is still tender,” Coach Pete Cassidy said Wednesday night. “He’ll go on the trip with us, but I do not know if he’ll play or not.”
Chevalier led Northridge (0-3) in scoring (13.9 points a game) last season and is second on the team with a 13-point average in two games this season.
