Division III champion Hawthorne will face a passing attack no one has been able to stop. Newbury Park quarterback Keith Smith is the state’s all-time passing leader with 9,715 yards. His favorite receivers are Leodes Van Buren, who has 96 receptions for 1,597 yards and 19 touchdowns, and Jason Tucker, who has 66 receptions for 1,176 yards and 10 touchdowns. But Newbury Park, having its finest season, will have to contend with an opponent that has more speed and better athletes than any other team it has faced. Kenji Tatum has passed for 1,540 yards and nine touchdowns, and Eric Chaney has rushed for 1,430 yards and 22 touchdowns.
