ROUNDUP : Clark Scores 20 as CLU Stays Unbeaten, 93-78

Derrick Clark had 20 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four blocked shots to lead host Cal Lutheran to a 93-78 victory over Christian Heritage in a nonconference basketball game Tuesday.

Clark, a 6-foot-4 senior forward, made seven of 11 shots from the field and was six of six from the foul line for Cal Lutheran (6-0), which is off to its best start since the 1983-84 season when the Kingsmen won their first eight games.

Starting guards Paul Tapp and Dave Ulloa added 18 and 17 points, respectively, for Cal Lutheran.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Reseda 92, Canoga Park 70--Trenton Cross scored 29 points and Roderick Jones added 14 points and 19 rebounds to pace Reseda (8-0) in the second round of the Van Nuys tournament.

Cleveland 72, Eisenhower 69--Louis Fernandez scored 17 points and had eight assists to lead the Cavaliers (6-3) to a semifinal victory in the Pacific Open tournament at Santa Monica City College.

Burbank 78, Garfield 52--Isaiah Kearson scored 19 points and Brian Baker added 18 points and eight rebounds for Burbank (3-4), which was lifted by a 26-5 third-quarter rally in the semifinals of the Bell-Jeff tournament.

Village Christian 69, Pilgrim 57--Chad Hanson scored a team-high 22 points as each Village Christian starter scored in double figures in the consolation semifinals of the Bell-Jeff tournament.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Newbury Park 53, Escondido 40--The Panthers fell behind, 12-1, in the first quarter after 0-for-15 shooting from the field but rallied to advance to the Simi Valley tournament semifinals. Julie Wastell led the Panthers (8-1) with 15 points.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Notre Dame 3, Kennedy 1--Steve Lee, Chris Sailer and Hernando Chavez scored for Notre Dame (8-2), propelling the Knights to the championship match of the Royal tournament.
