BOXING : Norris Stops Jimmerson Streak at 16
World Boxing Assn. cruiserweight champion Orlin Norris beat Art Jimmerson on Sunday night when the ringside physician stopped the bout after three rounds.
Jimmerson staggered to his corner, and Dr. Robert Karns said it would have been unsafe for him to continue.
Norris (39-3 with 22 knockouts) stunned Jimmerson (30-6) with numerous punches while Jimmerson was on the ropes in the middle of the third round.
Norris, 193 pounds, then stopped the 16-fight winning streak of Jimmerson, 195, with another flurry of punches at the end of the round.
Norris is the older brother of former WBA super-welterweight champion Terry Norris.
