BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Thompson, Mosley Help The Master’s Post 10th Victory in Row

Andy Thompson scored 23 points and James Mosley added 17 to propel The Master’s College to a 87-75 victory over Fresno Pacific in a nonconference basketball game Tuesday night at Fresno.

The victory was the 10th in a row for the Mustangs (21-3) and their 18th in 19 games.

Master’s trailed, 67-66, with 6 minutes 25 seconds to play before going on a 10-0 run to take a 76-67 lead with 3:43 left.

WOMEN

Cal Lutheran 82, Whittier 60--The Regals (6-9, 2-4) turned a tie game into a rout in the final seven minutes of an SCIAC game in Thousand Oaks. With the score tied, 55-55, with 7:31 remaining, the Regals put together an 18-0 run over the next four minutes.

Diana Cortez scored 19 points for Cal Lutheran, followed by Kelli McCaskill and Nicole Albert, who each added 16.

Fresno Pacific 81, The Master’s 21--The Mustangs (3-12) were blown out in the first half, 61-18, and could not stop Dana Coates, who had 30 points and 11 rebounds.

BOYS

Palmdale 97, Littlerock 76--Al Lairson scored 29 points for Palmdale (18-3, 12-0), which, combined with Antelope Valley’s 77-58 victory against Highland, clinched the Golden League title.

Maurice Wright added 22 points and 12 rebounds for Palmdale.

John George led Littlerock with 25 points.

Canyon 65, Burbank 62--Burbank (8-12) pulled to within one point in the nonleague game between two Foothill League teams but Canyon guard Greg Minor (26 points) made seven of nine free throws in the fourth quarter.

Charles Woodard had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Canyon (16-7).

Glendale 49, Arcadia 26--The Dynamiters (17-6, 5-2) held Arcadia to 10 points in the second half and coasted to a Pacific League victory. Henrik Bandari scored 12 points for Glendale, with James Fuller and Ramon Jose each adding 10.

Franklin 74, Verdugo Hills 64--John Sanders scored 30 of his 40 points in the second half for Franklin in a Northern Conference game. Chan Cornish had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Mike Sessions added 16 points for Verdugo Hills.

St. Francis 69, St. Anthony 53--The first-place Knights (17-5, 8-1) rolled to a Del Rey League victory behind 16 points and 18 rebounds by forward Braden Weber. Chris Ott added 17 points for St. Francis.

Village Christian 67, Western Christian 65--Mike Spielman had 20 points and seven assists to lead Village Christian (13-8, 4-1) in an Alpha League game at home.

Santa Clara 58, Moorpark 54--Damain Cantrell scored 27 points to lead the Saints (13-7, 5-0) in overtime in a Frontier League game. Jeff Barry had 20 for Moorpark and Micah Hanson added 18.
