GIRLS’ SOCCER ROUNDUP : Sunny Hills Takes Freeway Title Again

Jenny Cunningham scored two goals to help Sunny Hills defeat host Sonora, 6-0, Thursday to ensure the Lancers of their fourth consecutive Freeway League title.

Rhonda Partida added a goal and four assists for Sunny Hills (14-3, 8-0 in league). The four assists gave Partida, a four-year starter, the school’s career assist record with 49.

Sunny Hills’ Danielle Broschak had two saves to record her eighth shutout.

In the Empire League:

Esperanza 1, Cypress 0--Diana Guy scored 13 minutes into the game and Suzanne Benet recorded her 13th shutout for fourth-ranked Esperanza (14-4-3, 6-1-1).

Los Alamitos 2, Katella 0--Laura Kuzminsky and Liz Willemse each scored for Los Alamitos (13-2-3, 5-0-3).

El Dorado 4, Loara 0--Kelly Bogan had two goals and an assist and Liz Levens also scored twice for El Dorado (16-6-2, 4-3-1).

In the Garden Grove League:

Kennedy 7, Rancho Alamitos 0--Heather Darin and Danielle Nagamie each scored two goals for Kennedy (14-4-1, 10-0-0). Laurie Fritz, Jamie Pietranowicz and Michelle Maitland each scored once.

Pacifica 4, La Quinta 0--Valerie Downen scored twice and Cindy Vojtech had 11 saves en route to her 12th shutout for Pacifica (13-6, 9-2).

In the Olympic League:

La Mirada 2, Whittier Christian 0--Lisa Lawrence and Jennifer Moody scored first-half goals to lead La Mirada (10-6, 6-5) over Whittier Christian (4-11-2, 1-8-2).

In the Orange League:

Anaheim 4, Savanna 0--Michelle Davies scored two goals for host Anaheim (5-11, 5-3).

Brea-Olinda 6, Western 1--Jennifer Overholtzer scored twice to lead first-place Brea-Olinda (9-6-1, 7-0-1).

Valencia 2, Magnolia 1--Brandi Bermosk and Jessica Wilson each scored for the Tigers to give them sole possesion of second place in the Orange League. Valencia (7-6-6, 4-0-4) is two points ahead of third-place Anahiem and three behind first-place Brea-Olinda. Valencia finishes the season against those two teams.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 2, Costa Mesa 0--Sarah Lang made five saves for her 13th shutout for host Laguna Hills (13-5-5, 4-2-2).

Trabuco Hills 2, Estancia 1--Chelsey Green and Jamie Suela had first-half goals to lead first-place Trabuco Hills (12-5-3, 6-0-2). In the South Coast League:

Mater Dei 4, El Toro 0--Tricia Steiner scored two goals and Chrissy Whalen had a goal and an assist for host Mater Dei, ranked sixth in Orange County. Apollonia Reyes also scored for the Monarchs (15-4-1, 6-1-1).

Capistrano Valley 4, San Clemente 0--Elizabeth Delgado scored twice and Renee Parker and Lindsay Light each scored once for third-ranked Capistrano Valley (18-3-3, 7-1).

In the Sunset League:

Edison 1, Fountain Valley 1--Christine Tyler scored in the top right corner for Edison (20-4-3, 8-2-1) with six minutes left to tie Fountain Valley. Debbie Blake had given the Barons their lead earlier in the second half.

Rosary 4, Westminster 2--Liz Schilling scored two goals and Lisette Baron and Andrea Barclay each had one as Rosary (7-9-1, 2-6-1) overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit. Alicia Kimura and Stephanie Wilson each scored for Westminster (0-10-1, 0-9).

Ocean View 2, Huntington Beach 0--Kimberly Engesser scored both goals for Ocean View (14-8-2, 5-4-1).

In a nonleague game:

Aliso Niguel 4, Bolsa Grande 0--Cindy Johnson, a freshman, scored four goals for visiting Aliso Niguel (7-5-3).
