Cotton Leads Long Beach St. to Victory

LONG BEACH — Freshman James Cotton had 23 points and 10 rebounds Thursday night to lead Long Beach State to an 88-75 Big West victory over Pacific.
Mike Atkinson had 20 points and eight rebounds for the 49ers (11-7, 6-5). Atkinson, who entered the game as the nation’s leading field-goal shooter at 69.8%, made eight of 12 from the floor.
Rod Hannibal added 17 points and eight rebounds and Jeff Rogers had 13 points for the 49ers.
Glenn Griffin had 24 points for Pacific (14-9, 8-4).
