In another Division I-A game:
San Clemente 70, Corona 36--Michelle Macintyre scored 25 and Jenny Geminert added 15 for the Tritons (21-5), seeded fourth in the division. They will play Ventura Buena in the semifinals Saturday.
San Clemente jumped to a 29-9 lead after one quarter and increased it to 48-13 by halftime.
“I didn’t expect a game like this,” Triton Coach Mary Mulligan said. “Corona beat two quality county teams (University and Marina), but we came out with a lot of excitement, hit some outside shots and just got going.”
Geminert, San Clemente’s 6-0 center, scored 11 points in the first 3:30 of the first quarter, and Macintyre scored nine in the final 3:17.
Shannon Watanabe led Corona (22-4) with 19 points, 15 coming in the second half when the game was well out of reach.
In Division II-AA:
Ocean View 54, Crescenta Valley 37--Becky Fraser had 16 points and 16 rebounds for Ocean View (23-4). Farrah Magee had 12 points for the fourth-seeded Seahawks, which will play top-seeded Woodbridge in a semifinal game Saturday.
Woodbridge 49, Oxnard Rio Mesa 44 (OT)--Jamie Oenning had four points in overtime and hit two free throws to clinch the game for Woodbridge (27-0). Freshman Erin Stovall was calm as she hit two free-throws with no time left on the clock to send the game into overtime. Woodbridge will meet Ocean View Saturday in the semifinals. Rio Mesa finished 18-8.
Mater Dei 70, Quartz Hill 50--Leticia Oseguera scored 18 points and Adrienne Botana 18 to lead Mater Dei (23-3). The Monarchs face Cerritos in the semifinals on Saturday.
