OUTLOOK

Randall is pleased by the success former Herald pitcher Ila Borders, the second woman to pitch in a collegiate baseball game, has enjoyed at Southern California College. Randall, however, would still like to have Borders on the mound for Whittier Christian. He believes the Heralds will score runs in bunches--but they might surrender even more. “We could win a lot of 9-8 ballgames,” Randall said. “But we also could lose some that way.” Jordan throws several pitches and has a strong arm, but struggles with control. Jordan’s biggest contribution should come on offense. As a sophomore, he batted .475 to lead the team and had 14 runs batted in. Meyers showed promise pitching last season, but he has limited experience. The pitching staff will benefit from the presence of Alcala, who was a first-team all-league pick as a junior.
