OUTLOOK

The Minutemen have been a league power under Clifton, who enters his 10th season at the team’s controls. This season should be no different. “Catching and defense will be our strengths,” Clifton said. “Our hitting will be fine and we’ve got a lot of talent and depth in the outfield.” Malcom was a standout as a sophomore starter, batting .377 with 15 runs batted in. He also did a sound job defensively and was a first-team all-league selection. Davis started as a freshman and progressed with each game, batting .259 with 17 RBIs. Warmack (.298, seven RBIs) provides leadership in the infield. Clifton likes his outfield defense because of Rule and Winters. The Minutemen should have a young, quality pitching staff, anchored by Cook and Hardin. “The question for us,” Clifton said, “is how quickly our pitching will develop.”
