San Clemente’s Parsons Advances in Surfing
San Clemente’s Mike Parsons advanced to today’s quarterfinals of the Body Glove at Seaside Reef in Cardiff, the second stop on the Bud Surf Tour.
Orange County surfers joining Parsons in the quarterfinals will be Todd Miller and Richie Collins of Newport Beach, Shane Stoneman of San Juan Capistrano, Jeff Deffenbaugh from Huntington Beach and Vince De La Pena of Laguna Niguel.
Stoneman posted the second-highest heat total at 21.74 points, followed by Deffenbaugh at 21.50.
Joey Hawkins from Huntington Beach advanced in the longboarding competition.
Surfing begins at 7 a.m. today.
