Caulkins won the Southern Section Division III final and finished third at State in the 1,600 meters last year and appears to be on pace to do better this year. Wednesday at a non-scoring meet against Corona and Canyon, she ran a 400 in 62.7 seconds, about the same time she ran at the end of the 1993 regular season. “She’s already that much further along,” Coach Al Britt said. Saturday, Caulkins was named athlete of the meet at the Irvine Invitational after winning the 1,600 in 5:17.8, the 3,200 in 11:52 and running on the winning 1,600 relay team.

Other notables:

* Sarah Beckley, Brea-Olinda, had 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 67-39 victory over Newport Harbor in the State Division III playoffs.

* Lindsay Huebner, Orange, shut out Ocean View on five hits as the Panthers won, 1-0, in the title game of the Brea-Olinda tournament.

* Jamie Oenning, Woodbridge, averaged 14.5 points, 5 steals and 4.5 assists in Division II victories over San Bernardino and Mission Hills Alemany.

* Stacy Silva, Cypress, pitched consecutive three-hitters, the second a 2-1 decision over Pacific in the title game of the Cypress softball tournament.
