Bob Doering, Cal Lutheran’s director of athletics, resigned Monday, citing a desire to spend more time with his family.

Doering, 65, in his 14th year as athletic director, will leave his post effective May 31.

“All of us pass through the various stages of life,” Doering said. “I am at that stage where I desire to cut back on my professional responsibilities in order to do more things with my wonderful wife Ann.”

Doering will be on sabbatical for the fall semester and assume a part-time teaching assignment until his retirement.
