In another South Coast League game:

Capistrano Valley 3, Mission Viejo 2--Paul Day singled in Gabe Payne in the fifth with the go-ahead run for Capistrano Valley (11-5, 3-3). Mark Janko was two for four with an RBI and Gabe Payne had two hits for the Cougars.

In the Empire League:

Katella 7, Esperanza 4--Pitcher Jaret Wright hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to give Katella the lead. Jason Stockstill went two for three with two RBIs and one run scored for the Knights, who improved to 10-6-1, 4-2.

Los Alamitos 3, Loara 1--Cory Barnett had two hits, including an RBI triple, and Brad Cresse stole home to lead the host Griffins (11-6, 4-2). Derek Cunningham (4-3) picked up the victory, and Jason Ball got his fifth save. Loara falls to 9-7, 2-4.

In the Garden Grove League:

Garden Grove 3, Santiago 2--Kevin Loken scored on a Greg Pine single in the bottom of the seventh to win the game for Garden Grove (7-7, 1-3).

Josh Sandkamp pitched a complete game for Garden Grove, allowing three hits and striking out four.

Kennedy 7, Rancho Alamitos 3--After Tony Luce gave Rancho Alamitos a 3-2 lead with a bases-empty homer in the fourth, Kennedy scored five runs in the fifth.

Chris Clark retired the final 12 batters after Luce's home run, and finished with 11 strikeouts for Kennedy (9-6, 3-1).

Los Amigos 5, Bolsa Grande 1--Junior Francisco Bustos went two for three with four RBIs for visiting Los Amigos (3-11, 2-3).
