The Heralds fell two short of a Southern Section record for consecutive matches won. North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake won 49 consecutive matches from 1986-’89.

“The streak is over, but there is a bigger prize out there,” Whittier Christian Coach Dave Herron said. “We want to get back to the Southern Section finals.”

Calvary Chapel rallied from a 13-11 deficit to win Game 2 and draw even after losing Game 1. Setter Matt Wright had 54 assists as the Eagles improved their serving and passing to take control.
