PREP NOTES : Foothill Favored to Win Both County Track Titles
Foothill High is favored to become the first school to win both the boys’ and girls’ track and field team titles at the 13th Orange County Championships, which begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Trabuco Hills High.
The Knight boys’ team, the defending county champion, is paced by Ethan Taub, the defending champion at 400 meters. He has the county’s top 400 and 800 times this season. Katie Mook and Tara Oettinger lead the girls’ team. Mook is the county leader in the 100 and 300 hurdles and Oettinger has this season’s best marks in the 100, 200 and long jump.
Other challengers for the boys’ title are Esperanza and Woodbridge; among the girls’ teams, Edison, Esperanza, Mission Viejo, Newport Harbor and Woodbridge pose threats.
