Quartz Hill’s Crimin to Retire

Share

Co-coach Don Crimin of Quartz Hill High told his track team earlier this week that he will retire at the end of the season, and he received a nice going-away present Thursday when the Rebels’ boys and girls posted victories over Littlerock to clinch Golden League championships.

Quartz Hill (5-1, 5-0 in league meets), led by double winners Troy Searcy and Jamaal Chase, won the boys’ competition, 94-37.

Freshman Michelle Perry won three events to lead the Rebels (5-1, 5-0) to a 80-47 victory in the girls’ meet.

The victories gave Quartz Hill its second boys’ title in the last three seasons and its sixth consecutive girls’ title.

Crimin, 56, has coached the cross-country and track teams at Quartz Hill since the school opened in 1964.

“I still like going to practices and to meets,” Crimin said. “But I hate bus rides. I think that finally caught up with me the last couple years.”
