Harbor 6, Pierce 1--Heath McElwee was up for the challenge against Harbor College. The Pierce College left fielder could not say the same about his teammates after they were eliminated by the second-seeded Seahawks (31-12).
Pierce’s loss came on the heels of a 9-7 defeat Saturday to the Seahawks. The 15th-seeded Brahmas, eliminated by Harbor for the second time in four years, finished 25-17.
“I couldn’t hit the ball any harder, but our bats weren’t swinging real well,” said McElwee, who had two of his team’s five hits. “Our pitching just hasn’t been great in the playoffs and our defense just killed us.”
