HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL ROUNDUP : Griffin Just Misses Gem on an Infield Hit in Simi Valley’s 3-1 Victory

Share

Sara Griffin of Simi Valley High flirted with her third no-hitter of the season Friday, but saw it slip away on a ball that never left the infield in a first-round game of the Southern Section Division I softball playoffs.

Griffin, a senior right-hander headed for Michigan, lost her no-hit bid when Warren’s Tamara Haack slapped an infield single with one out in the seventh inning.

Griffin (21-1) finished with a one-hitter in a 3-1 victory and the Pioneers (24-2) advanced to a second-round date Tuesday with Lompoc, which beat Rio Mesa.
