BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : The Orioles’ Sabo Asks to Be Traded

Chris Sabo, upset at his reserve role, said he has asked to be traded by the Baltimore Orioles. “They’ve made their choice, which is fine,” Sabo said. “There’s no hard feelings. . . . I did not sign here to be a reserve.” Sabo has played little since Leo Gomez emerged as the starter at third base last month when Sabo was on the disabled list because of a strained back.

The Colorado Rockies placed reliever Darren Holmes (0-3, 9.20 ERA) on the 15-day disabled list because of inflammation in his right elbow.
