VENTURA : Burbank Ex-Mayor Hired as Consultant

Share

Former Burbank Mayor Tom Flavin will serve as Ventura’s economic consultant, charged with mapping the revitalization of the city’s economy.

The contract--which the City Council approved Monday night--calls for the city to pay Flavin $6,000 a month for six months, after which he will be eligible for the job of economic development coordinator. The coordinator will work to bring new businesses into Ventura and retain the ones already there.

The council chose Flavin, now a resident of Camarillo, last week over three other candidates. Monday’s action formalized that selection and described the work Flavin is supposed to do for the city.

* Work with other city staff members to publicize the city’s efforts to rework itself as business-friendly municipality.

* Direct an effort to identify Ventura’s economic base.

* Interact with other public and private agencies on issues relating to economic vitality.
