Area high school players and coaches garnered the top awards in the City Section.

Seniors Jennifer Gould of El Camino Real and Stephanie Wood of Verdugo Hills were named 4-A and 3-A players of the year.

El Camino Real’s Neils Ludlow and Monroe’s Bill Hence earned coach of the year honors after each guided their team to a section title.

Gould (20-4), a right-hander who will attend Princeton on an academic scholarship, led the Conquistadores to the 4-A title this season for the second time in her four-year career. El Camino Real won its last title in 1991, when Gould was a freshman.
