Booth Wins Junior Golf in Nevada

Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza shot a final-round 70 to win the girls’ division of the Las Vegas Founders’ Legacy Junior Golf tournament Thursday in Henderson, Nev.

Booth finished with a three-day total of 212 on the 5,763-yard, par-72 Legacy Golf Club course. Booth, who will attend Arizona State in the fall, shot 67 in the opening round and 75 Wednesday.

Jenny Lee of Fullerton shot 70 Thursday to finished second at 215.

Darren Angel of Northridge won the boys’ division with a three-round total of 211. John Lee of Placentia was the top Orange County finisher at 221. Jeffrey McGraw of Fullerton was at 223, Terry Noe of Fullerton 224 and Ben Garner of Lake Forest 225.

Cal State Fullerton pitcher Ted Silva has been chosen for the U.S. amateur baseball all-star team that will play in the World Championships next month.

Silva is one of 10 pitchers chosen for squad that will play 25 games, most of them against other national teams, before the World Championships from Aug. 3-17 in Managua, Nicaragua. Silva had 13 saves as the closer for the Fullerton team that won the NCAA Midwest I Regional and advanced to the College World Series. The U.S. team trains in Millington, Tenn.
