YORBA LINDA : Former Councilman Wisner to Run Again

Former City Councilman Gene Wisner has announced that he plans to run for City Council this November.

Wisner, who was on the council from 1982-92, did not run for reelection in the last general election because he supported a limit of two consecutive terms.

“Having been out of politics for two years, I have been able to take a hard and honest look at both our community and its government,” Wisner said in his announcement last week.

Wisner’s announcement cited concern for the city’s financial position as one of several issues on which he is focusing.

“Because of prudent fiscal management over the last decade, (Yorba Linda) has an adequate reserve, but that reserve is slowly being reduced,” Wisner said.

“I will work with the council to strengthen that reserve by closely analyzing each and every project and program provided by the city to make sure that every dollar spent is of true benefit to the community.”

Wisner has been living at his ranch in San Diego County since April, repairing damage to the property caused by last October’s fires.

With the repairs complete, he plans to move back to the city by the end of the month.
