BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Phillies’ Kruk Has Abdominal Pain
Philadelphia first baseman John Kruk, who underwent surgery earlier this year for testicular cancer, experienced abdominal pains Tuesday night and left the Phillies’ game against the Florida Marlins.
Kruk will return to Philadelphia today. Kruk said that he found a lump on his left rib cage and another on his left lower abdomen.
“Today I felt another lump in my abdomen,” Kruk said. “I know I didn’t pull anything. There’s just a lump there.
“It’s nothing to do with baseball. I don’t know what it is. I’ll know tomorrow when I go back to Philly and get it checked.”
Kruk is batting .302 with four home runs and 33 runs batted in in 65 games.

Andre Dawson, hampered by an injured left knee, was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Boston Red Sox. Dawson, 40, has played in only 68 games this year. He is batting .246 with 44 RBIs.
