NOTEBOOK / GARY KLEIN : North, South Battle to a Tie in Shrine Game

Share

Pene Talamaiveo appeared to have put the South team in position to win, but the 43rd Shrine high school all-star football game ended in a 7-7 tie in its debut at Citrus College last weekend.

Talamaiveo, a defensive lineman who graduated from Ganesha and will attend Utah in the fall, recovered a fumble with 30 seconds left at the North’s 28-yard line. But his efforts were wasted when officials ruled that North quarterback Steve Campbell fumbled on a pass attempt.

The South leads the series, 21-16-6.
