Lure, one of the best grass horses in racing, will be running for research.

Claiborne Farm and Mrs. William Haggin Perry, Lure’s owners, announced Friday that 1% of his future earnings will go to the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation’s recently established Racing for Research Program.

The 5-year-old Lure is scheduled to run in the Bernard Baruch Handicap on Aug. 12 at Saratoga.

“The Hancock family (Claiborne Farm) and Mrs. Perry have been staunch supporters of the Grayson-Jockey Club in the past,” Edward L. Bowen, president of the Foundation, said in a statement. “We are extremely grateful that they would utilize the visibility of Lure for the benefit of research.”
