LOCAL NOTES : SoCal Water Polo Wins Three Titles

SoCal, the Tustin-based water polo club, swept the national Junior Olympic championships, winning the 13-and-under, 15-and-under and 17-and-under divisions Saturday at Long Beach State.

David Hay scored four goals and most-valuable-player Sam Grayeli scored two as the 17-and-under team beat Annapolis (Md.), 8-6. Hay, a Foothill graduate, will attend Stanford; Grayeli, a Costa Mesa graduate, will attend USC.

In the 15-and-under division, MVP Brian Brown of Foothill High scored two goals in a 4-2 victory over Santa Barbara.

In the 13-and-under division, MVP Robby Arroyo, who will be a freshman at Foothill, scored six goals in a 14-1 victory over Cerritos. Nick Pacelli of Villa Park scored five.

The Tustin Bobby Sox softball team playing in the national tournament for 10- and 11-year olds in Sparks, Nev., beat Roseville, 9-1, in the second round.

Tustin had beaten Koolaw of Hawaii, 9-1, Friday. Tustin plays Sparks, which is also 2-0 in the tournament, today.
