Royal 23, Oxnard 14--Tailback Mike Reddington rushed for 143 yards and sparked a second-half rally with a one-yard run in the third quarter to lead Royal at Oxnard.

After Reddington’s touchdown gave Royal a 9-7 lead, the Highlanders scored again in the third quarter on a 17-yard pass from Wes Lagatta to Jerome Lee to increase their lead to 16-7. Lagatta completed eight of 12 passes for 137 yards.

Oxnard led, 7-0, in the first quarter after quarterback Taj Lewis scored on a 46-yard run. Lewis completed 12 of 28 for 124 yards, including a three-yard scoring pass to Tim Ordenoz with 30 seconds to play. Lewis rushed for 130 yards in 18 carries.

Royal receiver Jermaine Smith had three receptions for 41 yards and teammate Jerome Lee had three catches for 38 yards.

For Oxnard, Arthur Jenkins caught four passes for 49 yards and teammate Richard Arguelles had three receptions for 27 yards. Arguelles had 84 yards in four carries.
