PREP FOOTBALL / Saturday Pullout : Long Beach Jordan Rolls Over Santa Ana, 47-16

Lajuan Gibbons rushed for 97 yards in 20 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead Long Beach Jordan to a 47-16 victory over Santa Ana Friday at Santa Ana Stadium.

Gibbons was the key in Long Beach Jordan’s rushing attack, which overpowered and wore down the Santa Ana defense and gained 213 yards.

Long Beach started the scoring when Kason Smith returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown.

Santa Ana answered when Brian Schwalm threw 39 yards to Carlos Rodriguez. Eddie Contreras added the extra point, and a few minutes later Contreras made a 27-yard field goal to give Santa Ana the lead.

Long Beach Jordan then scored six unanswered touchdowns. Quarterback Ortega Jenkins threw 34 yards to Raheen Elliot for one touchdown then added two four-yard runs.

Gibbons then ran in from one and eight yards to put Long Beach Jordan up 47-10.

Jose Sagrero finished the scoring when he caught a 20-yard pass from Schwalm late in the fourth quarter for the game’s final score.
