Orange County High School Football PREP EXTRA : Chino Hills Ayala’s Wilridge Runs Past La Habra, 49-10

Chino Hills Ayala gained 539 yards total offense and crushed La Habra, 49-10, in a nonleague game Friday night at Chino High School.

The Bulldogs were led by senior running back Odyssei Wilridge, who rushed for 156 yards and scored three touchdowns in only four carries. Ayala had 374 yards rushing, with fullback Rocky O’Brien adding 104 yards in 12 carries.

Ayala scored on its first six possessions. Wilridge scored the first two touchdowns for the Bulldogs on runs of two and 85 yards. After Sam Anderson scored on a six-yard run early in the second quarter, Wilridge dashed 61 yards for his third touchdown.

The Bulldogs had a 35-0 lead with only two minutes left in the half. La Habra place-kicker Chris Diaz got the Highlanders on the board with a 40-yard field goal with 24 seconds remaining in the first half.

Johnny Yoo, who led La Habra with 107 yards rushing in 25 carries, scored the Highlanders’ only touchdown on a 23-yard run with 10:39 remaining in the game.

Ayala quarterback Steve Birnbaum completed five of eight passes for 165 yards. Julius Taino caught three passes for 122 yards, including an 82-yard touchdown reception.

La Habra was held to 174 yards total offense, 58 in the second half, when the Bulldogs were in command.
