COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Beats Palomar in Volleyball

Kathy Johnson had 17 kills as Fullerton beat Palomar, 15-11, 15-12, 13-15, 15-13, in a nonconference women’s volleyball match Wednesday at Palomar.

Kim Degener and Stephanie Pfeiffer added 13 kills each for Fullerton (2-0). Palomar is 1-1.

In other nonconference women’s volleyball: Moorpark 3, Cypress 0--Diane Wiskus had seven kills for host Cypress (1-3), which lost, 15-11, 15-12, 15-13.

Orange Coast 3, Mt. San Antonio 1--Orange Coast was led by Heather Daze with 22 kills to go along with her six solo blocks and nine defensive digs. Amy Wilson added 16 kills in the Pirates’ 15-9, 17-15, 15-13, 15-6 victory against Mt. San Antonio.

Rancho Santiago 3, Ridgecrest Cerro Coso 0--Brenda Parks led Rancho Santiago with five, while Sachie Hashimoto had 18 assists, in the Dons’ 15-5, 15-11, 15-11 victory. Rancho Santiago is 2-0.

Saddleback 3, El Camino 1--Former University star Andrea Bill led the Gauchos with 17 kills, five aces and 15 digs for Saddleback, which defeated El Camino 15-8, 7-15, 15-12, 15-11. Saddleback remains undefeated at 3-0.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Rancho Santiago 2, Palomar 2--Raul Montes scored on a second-half penalty kick to earn the tie for Rancho Santiago (3-1-1). Andy Ospelie also scored for the Dons. Every goal in the game was scored on a penalty kick.

In nonconference wrestling:

Mt. San Antonio 41, Cypress 9--Doug Blake of Mt. San Antonio pinned Mike Marquez of Cypress in 47 seconds in the 161-pound weight class. Jose Flores also had a pin for Mt. San Antonio, which improved to 5-1.
