Water polo/Two-meter man

Trailing Tustin by one with 20 seconds left in the deciding game of the San Luis Obispo tournament Saturday, it looked grim for the Wildcats. Tustin’s goalkeeper, guarded by Matthews, tried to get the ball to the Tiller two-meter man at half tank, but Brea goalkeeper Tim Bischel stole the ball and passed to Matthews. Matthews turned and tied the score with seven seconds left. Matthews scored the game-winner--his fourth of the game--with 1:53 left in overtime. Matthews, who has 37 goals this season, also had two goals in a 10-1 victory over Santa Barbara San Marcos, which clinched the tournament title for the Wildcats (11-1).
