Defensive tackle Sean Gilbert will sit out Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints to allow his sore shoulders more time to heal.

Gilbert, who will be replaced for the second week in a row by D’Marco Farr, acknowledged he has not been sound at any time during the regular season. He said he injured an ankle, knee and both shoulders during the exhibition season.

Starting defensive end Robert Young, who has purchased 64 tickets for family and friends this week, sat out practice because of a sore knee.

But Young, who grew up in Carthage, Miss., said he hopes to play Sunday.

“I’m going home to play and I don’t want to miss this one,” said Young, who picked up the $1,600 tab for the tickets. “The least my family and friends can do now that I’ve bought the tickets is put up a sign for me.”
