Pick Six Pays Off Record $1,010,221.40
An unidentified bettor at Santa Anita on Wednesday hit what is believed to be the largest Pick Six in U.S. history--$1,010,221.40.
Buoyed by a two-day carryover of $328,219, there was $1,424,041 bet Wednesday, and only one favorite--Damad in the sixth race--won during the sequence.
Flying Rey, a 14-1 shot, opened the Pick Six with a wire-to-wire victory, at $31.40; then came victories by Shiny Slew ($8.40), Damad ($4.80), Alta Blue ($13), Romarin ($10.40) and Cup O Moonshine ($22.40).
The previous record for a Pick Six payoff in Southern California was $976,229.60, when there was one perfect ticket on Feb. 28, 1986.
