The names change from year to year, but the results continue to be the same for the Hart High boys’ cross-country team, which won its 12th consecutive championship in the Foothill League finals at College of the Canyons on Thursday.

Paced by the 1-2-3 finish of senior Brett Strahan and juniors John Duarte and Joel Givens, the Indians placed five runners among the top seven finishers to total 18 points.

Burbank, led by fourth-place Kevin Harley, finished second with 67 points, followed by Saugus (69), Canyon (85) and Burroughs (136).

Strahan, the runner-up in last year’s Southern Section Division I championships, timed 15 minutes 46 seconds over the three-mile course to win his second consecutive league title.

Canyon, paced by individual winner Julie Harris, won the girls’ competition to tie Hart for the league title.

Hart had defeated Canyon in the first two league meets--which counted toward 50% of the league title--this season, but Canyon placed four runners among the top seven finishers to post a 27-46 victory over the Indians. Defending league champion Saugus was third with 59, followed by Burbank (104) and Burroughs (142).

Harris, a sophomore competing in her first season of cross-country, timed 19:44 to turn back Saugus sophomore Breanne Schweitzer (19:49), winner of the first two league meets.
