Juvenile Fillies Winner Flanders Has Surgery
Flanders, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, had surgery Sunday for a broken right front foot.
A spokesman at the Rudd & Riddle Equine Hospital said Flanders was operated on for a fracture of the cannon bone and a smaller axial fracture of the sesamoid bone.
The spokesman said he could not release further information. Messages left for the hospital’s doctors were not returned.
Wayne Lukas, Flanders’ trainer, could not be reached for comment.
Flanders beat Serena’s Song by a head in a fierce stretch run Saturday.
