Paul Foster had 29 points and 17 rebounds, and his brother Nick added 20 points and 19 rebounds as Moorpark College opened the basketball season with an 87-63 victory over San Diego Mesa in a first-round game of the Cerro Coso tournament.
Valley 88, Fullerton 80--Kenyth Henry scored 23 points and led Valley to a first-round win in the Fullerton tournament.

Moorpark 1, Glendale 1--Curtis Silverest became the first Western State Conference player this season to score against Glendale (13-0-5, 7-0-2) when he tied the match in the 52nd minute.
HIGH SCHOOL WATER POLO PLAYOFFS
Royal 14, Santa Maria 4--Bill Bruininga and Matt Landre each scored three goals for host Royal in a first-round Southern Section Division IV match.
Malibu 16, Newbury Park 13--Josh Watts scored seven goals and Brad Schmidt had 26 saves and a goal for host Malibu in a Division IV match.
Agoura 17, Atascadero 9--Harvey Wilford scored five goals for Agoura (19-4) in a Division IV match.
