OUTLOOK

The team’s strengths, according to Thate, are quickness and shooting ability. The Knights will need to be sharp in both areas. This is not the best league to be in if your tallest player is 6 feet 3. The Knights, obviously, intend to run, so Brittingham and his experience are good to have around. He was an honorable mention all-league selection last season, when he averaged six points and 9.2 assists. The rest of the team is green, and a rough nonleague schedule could lie ahead. Disaia and Brown were starters on the junior varsity. Stern, Almquist and Higgins were reserves on the varsity. It’ll make for an interesting nonleague schedule, as Thate must sort out a regular rotation. Expect to see a lot of different defenses and a lot of presses, as the Knights must try to hide the fact Almquist is their tallest player. But that can have some advantages as well. If the Knights can hit their shots, teams will have a nasty time defending them. After a slow start, Foothill was the league’s third-place team last season, coming in behind county powerhouses Santa Ana Valley and Orange. But a similar finish this time around will take some doing.
