OUTLOOK

To say this season will be a rebuilding year for the Centurions would be an understatement. Cypress loses Jessica Eggleston, the county’s top scorer, and Susan Flaming, who led the county in assists per game. Selbe returns only one starter from last season’s league championship team, so it could be a frustrating season for the Centurions, especially Adams. Arguably the best player in the league, she averaged 18 points to earn her third all-league honors last season. Selbe does return six others, but none with real experience. Swan, Cheung and Ishihara are expected to step up and fill the void left by graduation. Munesato, who was projected to start last season, returns after a knee injury that kept her out all last season. Selbe says he doesn’t know enough about the team to make predictions, but hopes the Centurions’ struggles over the summer aren’t a true measuring stick. Selbe says the team understands the possibility of a letdown and is ready to accept the challenge of rebuilding.
