OUTLOOK

Returning no starters and only three members from last year’s fourth-place squad won’t help the Knights move up in the league race. This team will rely on quickness and outside shooting to stay in games. Easterly’s second year could be as successful as her first if the newcomers can fill the holes left by the departure of Cris Carillo and Deborah Vargas, two all-league guards from last year’s playoff team. The emphasis has shifted from avenging playoff losses to staying with the rest of the pack in the new-look league. Easterly will look to Germinaro and Morales to provide much-needed leadership and experience. Painter will see lots of time in the post. She is one of several sophomores who will be asked to play a big role once the league season rolls around. Youth and the lack of a distinguished leader will hinder the Knights. Easterly said the team has plenty of raw talent that needs to be developed and, with only two seniors, it will be a rebuilding year. A third consecutive playoff appearance would be nice, but with the least-experienced team in the league, it’s not a priority. The Knights do have their final three league games at home, which could help.
