OUTLOOK

The Warriors return the league’s most valuable player, Gadd, and a tough leader, Shah. “Pound-for-pound, (Shah) is probably the toughest player in Orange County,” Sand said. “She’ll take a charge from someone twice her size. I love having her on the team.” Sand said Gadd keeps improving. “Her athletic ability is rising, and she will have a more well-rounded game.” Gadd and Shah have started every game the past three seasons. Hardeman, daughter of P.J. Hardeman, the Troy boys’ coach, played in Brea-Olinda’s developmental programs, and Sand said she is ready to contribute. “She’ll probably be our best shooter,” he said. “She understands the game well, and she’ll probably start.” Sand’s teams have won the last two league titles, but lost in the quarterfinals both years. “We feel we should be one of the top three teams in (the Southern Section), and we want to go as far as we can,” Sand said. Trying to hold off La Habra and Fullerton should prepare the Warriors for the playoffs.
