From the beginning of the season, L.A. Baptist High Coach Sue Newcomb expected her girls’ volleyball team to make the Southern Section Division V final.

She didn’t expect the Knights to have an undefeated season.

Now, second-seeded L.A. Baptist (19-0) will face by far its toughest test of the season against Brentwood at 1 p.m. today at Cypress College.

Top-seeded Brentwood (17-1) is defending Division V state champion and played a demanding schedule against several higher-division powers, including and Calvary Chapel, top-seeded in Division IV, and Harvard-Westlake. Brentwood’s only loss was to La Mirada early in the season.
