OUTLOOK

Saddleback will have its hands full this season after finishing eighth in the Sea View League last season. Experience, however, will be on the Roadrunners’ side with a team of juniors and seniors and four returning starters. Wiora, a two-time, second-team All-Sea View League selection, and Diaz, a Sea-View League honorable mention selection, figure to be the offensive leaders. Wiora averaged 12.5 points and Diaz averaged seven. The Roadrunners will have to rely on their speed and experience to compensate for their lack of team height. “I’m not sure if we got much of a break moving to this new league,” Anderson said. “This is a very tough, even-matched league.” Saddleback’s goal is to finish in the top half of the league and to possibly make the playoffs. It will depend on throwing the opponent’s game plan off track with a quick, swarming defense. Another problem for the Roadrunners is that many of Saddleback’s players don’t play year round. Anderson is looking for her top newcomers, Macgasi, Rodriguez and Taylor, to be factors.
