PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Rocker Wants to Feel Wanted

Share

What has happened to defensive tackle David Rocker?

Rocker, who received a guaranteed contract to re-sign with the Rams this season, has spent the season on the bench. Even when the team has suffered injuries up front, it has turned to rookie free agent D’Marco Farr before calling on Rocker.

“I’m not angry or bitter, but if I’m not wanted here, then I think it would be better for me to move on next season and play elsewhere,” Rocker said. “I still have great confidence in my ability to play, and sitting 16 games straight on the bench won’t change those feelings.”

Defensive tackle Jimmie Jones, listed as probable on the team’s injury report, has been unable to practice this week because of a sprained ankle. Jones tried to run Friday but reported pain.

In the first meeting with the Saints this year, New Orleans took advantage of Sean Gilbert’s absence at defensive tackle and ran a season-high 38 times. The Saints, who rank last in the league running, gained 118 yards.
