PREP ROUNDUP : Mission Viejo Beats No. 6 El Toro in Soccer

Unranked Mission Viejo defeated sixth-ranked El Toro, 2-0, in a nonleague boys’ soccer game Friday at El Toro High.

After a scoreless first half, Chris Bentinelli scored the Diablos’ first goal. Mark Fiore scored the second late in the game. Mission Viejo improved to 3-0-3.

In other nonleague boys’ soccer:

Costa Mesa 3, Magnolia 2--Camilo Ramirez scored the winning goal with seven minutes to play for Costa Mesa (4-3-2). The goal was Ramirez’s second of the game.

Eugene Rodriguez had both goals for Magnolia (1-5).

Cypress 3, Hacienda Heights Los Altos 0--Bryan Huskey scored three second-half goals for host Cypress (5-1-1).

Huskey, a senior, has scored nine goals in five games.

Fountain Valley 2, Pacifica 0--Scott Hainlen recorded his sixth shutout in seven games for top-ranked Fountain Valley (6-1). Adam Novak scored the Barons’ first goal on a corner kick and Keith Hedenberg added the second goal in the second half.

Newport Harbor 2, University 0--Alessio Smith and Brian Hoover scored first-half goals and Steve Kleha had five saves for Newport Harbor (6-2).

Orange Lutheran 4, Cerritos Whitney 1--Patrick Chollet-Guibert, Eric Van de Zilver and Matt Stiles each had one goal and one assist for Orange Lutheran (8-0-1).

Santa Ana 2, Loara 0--Edgar Perez had four saves in his third shutout of the year for Santa Ana (3-2-1). Jose Cadena and Juan Herrera each scored for the Saints.

Trabuco Hills 3, Laguna Hills 1--Mike Junge and Standa Kreipl scored in the first three minutes of the game and Brandon Melendez scored early in the second half for Trabuco Hills (4-3).

Villa Park 1, Garden Grove 0--Bret Polakoff scored with 10 minutes remaining in the game for Villa Park (2-2-1). Hugo Monteon had 11 saves for Garden Grove (2-2-3).
