ROUNDUP : Cal Lutheran Loses Lead, Then Just Loses to San Diego, 85-74

Cal Lutheran raced to a 17-point lead in the first half of Tuesday’s nonconference men’s basketball game against UC San Diego, but ran out of gas in the second half of an 85-74 loss at San Diego.

The loss was the third in a row for the Kingsmen (4-4), who made 23 of 36 shots (63.8%) from the field in the first half, but only eight of 27 (29.6%) in the second.

Derrick Clark, who scored 23 of his 27 points in the first half, gave Cal Lutheran a 48-31 lead shortly before halftime.

Cal Lutheran’s Dave Ulloa, who had 19 points, scored to tie the score, 72-72, with 4:02 left, but the Kingsmen were outscored, 13-2, the rest of the way.

Kahlil Allen scored 18 points for San Diego (4-4).

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Chatsworth 84, Azusa 49--Eddie Miller scored 13 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter as the Chancellors pulled away in the final period in the first round of the Bonita tournament.

Tariq Hill scored 18 points and Jerome Joseph added 14 points and five assists for Chatsworth (6-1). Miller also had 16 rebounds.

Glendale 49, Bishop Amat 46--The Dynamiters (5-3) used a full-court press in the fourth quarter to rally for a victory at Glendale.

Arnie Boghossian scored seven points in the final quarter and Chris Farmer hit two three-pointers in the final minutes.

James Fuller had 12 points for Glendale, which had an 18-8 surge over the last six minutes.

Simi Valley 74, Crespi 65--The Pioneers made 18 of 20 free throws to hold off the Celts (6-3). Gianandrea Marcaccini had 36 points for Crespi.
