Schea Cotton

Mater Dei, Sophomore

Basketball/Guard

Cotton, whose start this season was slowed because he missed 10 days of practice because of a rash, seems to have caught up. He averaged 28 points and about 11 rebounds in five games to lead the Monarchs to the title of the Above the Rim Prep Classic in Del Mar. “I think he’s just finally getting in shape,” Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight said. Cotton, the co-most valuable player of the tournament, was at his best when it was necessary. He scored 33, including 13 in the fourth quarter, in a 92-77 victory over Brooklyn (N.Y.) Lincoln in the title game and 31 with 12 rebounds in a 65-63 victory over New York Christ the King in the semifinals.
